Who are Mentees? Those flight attendants (FA) and flight technicians (FT) who are transitioning from the commercial aviation sector as a commercial FA or maintainer. Individuals who want to become a corporate FA/FT and who have completed their initial emergency training. Focus is to provide guidance, expertise, support and potential career paths and skills needed to succeed in corporate aviation. Who are Mentors? Recruitment criteria for mentors will incorporate the following items: experience, location, background, current employment, availability, and professional involvement. What is the FlightAlly Mentoring Program? The combination of traditional one-on-one mentoring, e-mentoring and tele-mentoring will be the least restrictive in terms of bridging geographic and time differences for both the mentor and mentee. How does it work? Each mentor/mentee will be paired based on a set criterion. Mentoring Sessions: The model most closely related to the FA/FT career field is the school-to-career model. This allows activities between the mentor/mentee to develop skills their skills within their career field, ask one-on-one questions while in the field, prepare resumes, interview techniques, training requirements, professional progression, job opportunities, and other related information. Program Accomplishments/Outcome: The process that reflects on evaluation findings and disseminates them to appropriate parties. A process for measuring the expected outcomes have occurred. Mentoring Sources: Mentoring will take place anytime via e-mentoring, tele-mentoring, or one-on-one (if possible). Mentoring Schedule: Minimum contact at least once a week between mentor/mentee. There are many variables to include geographical, flying schedules, and crew rest. The mentor/mentee will establish an appropriate contact schedule. Mentoring Matches Meet: The mentor/mentee will primarily meet via e-mentoring/tele-mentoring to conduct face-to-face mentoring. E-mentoring programs can potentially create a positive online communication, serve as an additional communication tool and establishes a trusting, positive relationship when geographically the mentor/mentee are not able to meet face-to-face.
